Willpower While Eating Out, Parties and Celebrations


Here are some tips for enjoying eating out, parties and celebrations throughout the year:

  • Don’t skip meals
  • Eat a small meal or snack before attending parties and special events
  • Drink water when you arrive. (Often you are thirsty not hungry)
  • Practice moderation not deprivation
  • Remember - calories from alcoholic beverages count
  • Order vegetable side dishes with sauce on the side
  • Select food which are: GRILLED, STEAMED, BROILED, BAKED, ROASTED, POACHED, LIGHTLY SAUTEED or STIR-FRIED and GARDEN FRESH
  • Ask the server to make substitutions like steamed vegetables instead of fries
  • Ask for low-calorie salad dressing or lemon to squeeze on your salad
  • Order fresh fruit or sorbet instead of cake, pie or ice cream desserts
  • Dance if there is music
  • Maintain your holiday exercise routine
  • Have plenty of water and club soda available
  • And most of all, stay positive
