Exercises you can do at your desk
Exercising at your desk is a great way to stay active, get your blood flowing and improve concentration! The result? A healthier, happier more productive you! Here are some examples to get you started:
- Sitting on a fitness ball in place of your office chair is a great way to strengthen your core and improve posture. Bouncing on your ball will improve blood and lymphatic flow, burn calories and boost energy.
- Keep some light exercise equipment in your office such as dumbbells, exercise bands or a medicine ball. Set a reminder on your phone or in Outlook to pop up every 30-60 minutes. When the reminder pops up complete one exercise. By the end of your day you will have worked all your major muscle groups!
- If you can’t get up or others are watching you can perform “secret” exercises while seated: calf raises, glute squeezes, quad squeezes, kegels (if you are female), mini push-ups off the edge of your desk. For a great core exercise place a tennis ball behind your back and make circles with your belly button while pushing your back against the ball and pulling your abs in
- Then perform 3 sets/15 on each side: Leg raises
