Benefits of doing 3 bouts of 10 minutes of exercise a day

Finding time to exercise is important. If you have a hard time fitting in a 30 minute workout, exercising for just 10 minutes, three different times a day can have a positive effect on your health and your body will not know the difference between doing it all at once or breaking it up throughout the day! Research shows 10 minutes of physical activity can:

  • Improve cardiovascular health including lowering blood pressure
  • Boost your immune system
  • Prevent bone loss
  • Reduce stress by improving your mood
  • Give you more energy and improve your quality of life!
    • Here are some examples of how to add 10 minutes of physical activity to a busy day:

      • Walk the stairs at your office during your 10 minute break
      • Create a 10 minute circuit you can do anywhere! No equipment needed! You can incorporate jumping jacks, lunges, squats, push-ups, or planks for example.
      • Pick a cue to remind yourself to do your 10 minute circuit, for example, after taking a bathroom break.
      • Get to work early, park far away from the door and walk for 10 minutes before you get to your desk.
      • Jump-rope, run, walk, or bike for ten minutes whenever you can squeeze it in!
      • Walk or run 10 minutes in the morning, 10 minutes at lunch and 10 minutes after dinner. That’s 30 minutes of activity by the end of the day!
      • On a long phone call? Walk for 10 minutes while you are on the phone.
        • Whatever you decide to do get creative and remember something is always better than nothing!
