What is Vida Health’s Medical Weight Loss Program?
Vida’s Medical Weight Loss Program is a personalized, doctor-supervised weight loss program — all through an easy-to-use mobile app and website.
Vida offers access to a specialized weight loss care team including who will work with you through video calls and chat messages to make a plan, build habits, and meet your goals.
You will also have access to helpful Vida resources like videos, lessons, recipes, and more. For seamless goal tracking, connect fitness trackers or health devices.
Vida’s weight loss program focuses first on lifestyle changes, including medical nutrition therapy, but also supports weight loss medicine prescribing when appropriate.
Who has access to Vida’s Medical Weight Loss Program through Angi’s benefits?
All employees and their dependents aged 18+ enrolled in an Angi UHC or Kaiser medical plan may be eligible for Vida Health at no charge.
Before participating in the Vida weight loss program, you will be asked some questions about your health and history, to make sure the program is right for you. Some reasons a person may not be able to participate in Vida include a BMI below the required threshold or because they have diabetes. But there are additional less frequent reasons as well.
How do I get started?
Go to vida.com/angi or download the Vida app from your phone’s app store. Then create an account.
After you have created an account, you will answer a few questions about yourself and your weight loss goals and then you will be matched to the Vida program that is right for you.
Once you are matched to a Vida program, you will be able to choose a care team member who you will work with towards your weight loss goals.
After you have selected your provider, you will be shown the next available appointment times.* Choose the best one for you. If you have any trouble finding an appointment time that works, do not hesitate to email support@vida.com.
*If you have a prescription for weight loss medicine, you may be asked to share additional information with Vida before scheduling an appointment with a Vida medical provider. We’ll let you know what these steps are in your Status list.
Who will I first work with in the Medical Weight Loss Program?
Most newly enrolled members will meet first with a dietitian to discuss health goals and develop a plan to get started.
How do I meet with a Vida medical provider in the Medical Weight Loss Program?
These steps must be completed before meeting with a Vida medical provider:
- Initial Enrollment
- Enroll in Vida Health through vida.com/angi or the Vida mobile app.
- In the app, fill out the onboarding questionnaire and select your main health goal.
- Schedule with your dietitian or join your support group.
- Weight loss medicine history and documentation
- If you have previously been prescribed a weight loss medicine, you will be asked to upload some documents, which can include labs and medical records. Your status list in the app will tell you which documents are needed and how to upload them.
- Members who are not on weight loss medicines prior to enrollment in Vida will initially work on Medical Nutrition Therapy with a Vida Dietitian. You will work closely with a coach or dietitian over the course of a few months.
- Lab results* that will likely be requested, will have been completed in the last twelve months and include TSH, CMP, A1c, and Lipid Panel. Let your Vida medical provider know by sending a private “My Care Teams” chat if your most recent lab work was completed more than twelve months ago or if you are missing some of the required results. The provider will send you a lab work order that you can print and take with you to a network lab of your choice.
3 . Meet with Your Vida Medical Provider
- If you have been asked to upload documents, once you have done so and we have checked we have what we need, you will be able to schedule with a Vida provider.
- During this visit, if you are currently on weight loss medicine, you are required to show proof of your most recent prescription.
*Lab results and provider notes can be securely submitted to your Vida medical provider via the Vida app. Within the Vida app go to Settings >>My Documents. Tap “Add Documents.” Follow the app instructions to upload a PDF or screenshots.
How do I schedule my next appointment with the Vida care team?
When you log into the app, you can schedule an appointment directly through the Vida Home screen.
Can I change care team members if it doesn’t work out with my current one?
To request a change, go to the Home screen in your Vida Health app, tap the gear icon in the upper right, then tap Request New Coach. You’ll complete a brief survey so we can match you with a new coach that’s a good fit for your style and goals.
Why is Angi asking me to use Vida Health to qualify for coverage of my weight loss medicine through RxSaveCard?
Weight loss medicine is a powerful tool for those seeking to lose weight. But these medicines are complex and are most effective for long-term success when paired with lifestyle changes.
Vida Health offers support for these changes through health coaching, an easy to use app, and access to medical providers who can help prescribe and help manage side effects.
I’m already working with a physician, and I’m concerned about moving to a new medical provider. How does my Vida provider work with my regular doctor?
Your medical weight loss treatment with a Vida medical provider is in addition to the care you already receive from your current doctor or primary care provider.
Your Vida provider focuses on obesity treatment. Your primary care provider is responsible for all other aspects of your healthcare. This includes services such as in-office visits, preventive mammograms and prostate exams, vaccinations, follow-ups after emergency care and planned surgeries, and care for conditions other than obesity/overweight.
Your Vida provider is a licensed doctor or nurse-practitioner who can write lab orders that are used in obesity treatment, review the results, and prescribe weight loss medicines to directly treat obesity.
If you are being evaluated for or are preparing for bariatric surgery, Vida will work with your surgical team to ensure that needed weight loss medicines are prescribed.
We encourage you to share your primary care provider name, clinic, phone, and fax number with Vida. And to consent to Vida sending info to your PCP, so your records are up to date. With your consent, Vida will send an after-visit summary by secure fax to your PCP. The after-visit summary may include lab results or other clinical findings of concern and medicines that your Vida provider starts, adjusts, or discontinues.
